UNDER CONSTRUCTION (and a new math game)

The students chose to take an airplane on our "trip" to Mexico.  We have been reading books about airplanes and airports to learn more about the parts of an airplane and jobs at the airport and on airplanes.  Our aiplane and airport construction is in progress and the students are constructing a fuselage, ticket counter area, cockpit and security station.

We also learned a new math game this week called "Build It"!  The students draw a number card and use chips to represent the number on their tens frame.  The students are quickly learning what combinations create a total (examples:  5 on the top and 4 on the bottom make 9, 5 on the top and 2 on the bottom is 7, and 4 on the top and 0 on the bottom is 4).
